FAQs

  • The Emotional Finance Programme is designed for early-career client-facing financial professionals; ideally those already working directly with clients, or shadowing senior colleagues with a view to building their own client relationships in the short term

  • The programme runs over 4 months with both live and asynchronous elements.

    Learning happens at three levels:

Theoretical - a psychotherapeutically informed model gives you the framework to understand

Practical - the skills, insights and tools to apply the theory and translate that understanding into a deliberate and repeatable approach

Experiential - role-plays, client scenarios, debriefs and direct feedback to embed the learning in conditions that mirror the complexity of real client work

  • The programme combines asynchronous training modules - which you work through in your own time - with live, participatory practice calls held fortnightly virtually. All live sessions are recorded and available in the programme portal, so you won't miss out if you can't make one

  • 1 × Kick-off session (90 minutes) - intake survey, welcome, benchmarking assessment, and orientation to the programme

4 × Asynchronous training modules - released fortnightly from week one, so you can engage with the material on your own schedule - without it competing with your client diary

7 × Live practice calls (90 minutes each) - scheduled fortnightly throughout the programme. These are active, participatory sessions: role-plays, client scenarios, debriefs, and direct feedback. All practice calls are recorded and available in the programme portal, so you won’t miss out if you can’t make it live.

Facilitated Peer WhatsApp group - open throughout the programme for questions, reflections, resource-sharing, and celebrating progress. A community of practitioners navigating the learning together.

1 × Live Closing session (90 minutes) - post-programme benchmarking, shared and individual reflections, personal goal-setting for what comes next

  • Coaching calls will be spread across days of the week and various times, to ensure coverage of busy schedules. When you sign up you’ll be sent the calendar links. All coaching calls are recorded too, so you’ll be able to watch back.

  • You should expect to set aside around 3 hours per fortnight during the first two months - roughly 90 minutes hours for the training module and 90 minutes for each live practice call. The asynchronous format is designed to fit around your client diary rather than compete with it

  • Cohorts are kept deliberately small - between 6 and 10 participants - to ensure the practice calls are genuinely useful and the learning environment feels safe and contained

  • All practice calls are recorded and uploaded to the programme portal. We'd always encourage you to attend live where possible, as the value of the practice calls comes largely from active participation - but we understand that won’t always be possible.

  • The practice calls include role-plays, client scenarios, and direct feedback, because relational skills develop through doing, not just reading about it. The environment is supportive, non-judgmental, and designed to make that feel safe rather than exposing. If you really struggle with role plays, get in touch and we’ll talk about ways to help.

  • The programme is eligible for 22 hours of structured CPD.

All participants receive an Emotional Finance Certified digital badge on completion of the programme.

  • Yes, all live calls are recorded and shared confidentially on the programme portal to allow catch up at your own pace.

  • The programme is designed for early career, client facing financial professionals. This is so that participants have live material they can reflect upon in the practice calls. If you are still shadowing client meetings but will be taking on clients in the short term get in touch and we’ll have a conversation to check if you’re ready to join.

  • The Emotional Finance Programme is the only training in financial services built directly on psychotherapeutic theory and practice - a field devoted to building client relationships of value - and developed specifically for the client adviser relationship.

The programme is led by Emma Boardwell, an experienced psychotherapist and trainer, and a DipFA qualified financial and relational dynamics coach.

  • Yes. Before the cohort begins, all participants sign a confidentiality agreement. What is shared in the room, stays in the room - and that commitment runs in both directions.

  • I understand circumstances may change, and so I offer all registrants a refund up to 7 days prior to kick off, in the amount of your full registration fee minus a 10% admin fee. After that time passes, I do not offer refunds. Full T&Cs are available here https://www.emotionalfinance.co.uk/terms
